Hello Everyone,
I have just ordered the rules on a complete whim, I was doing my usual wander around the internet, the theme really sparked my interest and it will give me a chance to break out my Carl Douglas CD and listen to Witch finder general again. While I wait for them to whisk their way to me, I, thought I would take the chance to ask how solo friendly they are? I sadly, have not found any other players in my area.
Thanks for your time,
David Lee |

Welcome to the forum David. The game is designed for two or more players but like other wargames you could easily adapt the rules for solo play. Please do let us know how you get on. I never knew Carl ‘Kung Fu Fighting’ Douglas did a song about Witchfinder General until I read your post. I had a listen to it earlier via Itunes (with some assistance from my daughter as most of my music is still on vinyl). Funky – our ‘proof reader’ , Pablo, will love it. He is the ‘soul man’ in the team. |

Thanks for the reply and welcome Black Sheep, what I will probably do to start with is play both sides myself, to get the hang of the rules, then cobble together some form of reaction or response system for one side. The beauty of being a solo player is there is no rush about these things but on the downside it means I rarely complete a project.
At the moment I am trying to decide whether or not to order some figures before the rules arrive. It would give me a chance to get down to the painting and be ready to play pretty quickly but whether or not my better half would be happy about it has put me off the idea so far. It is one of those tough life choices.

Hi David, Good to see the fan base growing I haven't written anything yet, but had given some thought to solo play and my idea was maybe a game played on a long (say 6') table but no more than 4' wide with a player (the witchfinder) trying to get from one end to another (maybe to take a prisoner to justice or the Earls retinue on its way to court?) with random event cards being drawn at various points which effect arrival and actions of the forces of evil. Nothing more than an idea but thought it had potential....I'll put it in the back of my mind with the rest of my ideas!! |

| When you get the rule book you could try Encounter 1 solo. Dice for which sides of the board the vile abominations start from, then just let them head for the nearest piece of human flesh. You control the villagers. |

Thank you for the ideas, they are very appreciated, I will give them some thought. Having looked over the forum everyone here seems very friendly, which is a pleasant surprise. I tend to avoid most internet forums not because I`m a luddite, well partly, but also because of some bad experiences in the past.
Anyway, I am really chomping at the bit to have a game. So I threw caution to the wind and ordered some figures from Warlord, not too many so it should be alright. I ordered a box of parliamentary infantry, the clubmen militia and the Fire and Brimstone set hopefully that is enough to be getting on with, and as I also ordered the rules from them, they should arrive at about the same time. I need to find a Witch Finder figure now, which is a bit more difficult.
On a side note, I thought I would watch some Hammer horror films for some inspiration and started with Twins of Evil and The Vampire Lovers last night. Not a bad way to spend a few hours. |

Hammer horror . I saw the new Hammer movie 'Woman in Black' at the cinema last week with the Mrs and our daughter. It was a really good 'cover your eyes /jump in your seat' ghost story , we all thoroughly enjoyed it. |

Hello again Dave. Sorry you have to wait to see the new scary Hammer movie. I have to wait until the end of July to see these talented ska'ry lads that are popping over to the UK from your neck of the woods. | I have listened to them a few times, I have a MD of a couple of their albums but I have not seen them live. They are fairly popular I think. I am more of Urufuls fan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teGJw2rD0y8 |

Hello David. Top link, thank you Thoroughly enjoyed the song and the video. I think the main man should have a +1 to his attack score when using a duster. |
