Hi all,

I've just ordered the rules to go with my 28mm Warlord ECW figures. I've bought a few of werewolves too. The rules ain't arrived yet, but I see that Maelstrom games has a 25% offer on their Banelegions line. Would someone with the rules suggest which of those figures might be suitable for use with the Witchfinder General rules!

You'd be able to use Viktor cel R#259;u as a Vampire and Maru Swordtooth as a Barguest, but that's about all for now. There are no rules for Demons or anything, so if you wanted to use some of the others, you'd need to think up some house rules.

Thanks for that! I'm certainly looking forward to the game. I have to say that a couple of the cloven hoofed monsters like BRUNCHAATH THE VILE, TAIN OF THE GABRAX seem as if they would fit in the period nicely!

I think that they would. They certainly look the part, though you'd have to make up some stats or tweak existing ones. There is certainly potential for them and they are nice looking models.

is a barguest basically a werewolf by another name? or is it a monster in its own right?

There are some other cloven hooved monsters who seem suitably devilish:

KAASTARUK, SKULL-BEARER OF THE TARVAX and DAACHUCH, SKULL-BEARER OF THE GABRAX

A Barguest is a creature of legend. A huge Black Dog. The book shows pictures of the Heresy Miniatures Hell Hound models. I am using the Docga models of Tor Gaming's Relics. I am also using their Orcnar Unmann figures as Noctelingers, mainly because I already have them as I was one of the Relics playtesters.

There are rules for Werewolves and pictures of Heresy's rather nice figure. There is nothing about any cloven hooved demons or anything. Unless there is going to be supplemental updates, you will have to create stats for these yourself. Personally, I think they would make useful figures for scenario specific games. Some of them are rather expensive!

I've found West Wind Productions have some nice (and reasonably priced) figures in their Gothic Horror range

Ha,ha! I forgot abut these! I have some of them for Vampire Wars. I thought that they'd stopped producing the range since they had immersed themselves in Secrets of the Third Reich and no longer had anything to do with these sets of rules! They used to make figure for all of the rulesets named "Something" Wars. Some of them are rather nice, but beware, they may be closer to 25mm than 28mm. They may appear a little small. It shouldn't be too big an issue unless you try to mix and match with other ranges. The Vampire Wars range has some nice figures, includin some Nosferatu Vampires! The Sleepy Hollow range is perfect for this game.

There is also the 28mm ranges from 'Blue Moon' who are marketed through Old Glory. Plenty of nasties in there although the Standard folks are all C18th or later.

You have to be careful with Blue Moon. Some of the figures are just, well, poor (I was going to say something else). Others are superb. Some of the Blue Moon range are the Westwind ones as well.

Luckily there's plenty of photos on the site and I think it's mostly the non beasties that are 'strange'. There's no awful figures in those I have from them though there are some poses which are a bit odd :)

I think Blue moon had some of the old Westwind ranges when they stopped making them but didn't know they were doing any that Westwind still make? If so best to compare prices and get 'em from the cheapest obviously which will probably be Westwind :D

Old Glory uk also stock some of the Blue Moon stuff. The strange thing about Blue Moon figures is that they are made over here in the UK, then shipped to Old Glory in the US and then shipped back here to Old Glory UK! I have some of their 15mm stuff and it's very nice, but when they haven't got it in stock, that is the set of hoops that have to be jumped through. You do get excellent service from OG UK though!

Just received my Vampire Wars figures and they are excellent - the witches are perfect. I think that the size will fit fine with my warlord figures. I even got some children vampires - for some interesting games. Well worth a look!

Certainly many options from the Games Workshop line too. I have a massive Vampire Counts army that spans more than a decade of collecting, so I plan to use a lot of those figures.

Beastmen, Vampires, Witches - GW has a diverse collection. And easy to find, even in Canada. Local shop is less than 5km away.
