A big thanks to everyone that had a game of Witchfinder at Scarborough's War Torn over the weekend and the many folk that had a chat about the game. Although I was very pleased to be kept busy with Witchfinder participation games I only had limited time to look round the show.
For sci-fi fans Derwentside Wargames Club had a great game on show with a gigantic futuristic 'oil refinery' and other superb buildings and terrain. The Redcar Ironbeards offered an intriguing 15mm WW2 'what if game'called Valkyrie - based on an alternative history concerning the aftermath of Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg and his associates actually managing to successfully assassinate Hitler. The Brompton Bankers impressive Very British Civil War game, in 28mm, involved two opposing Royalist factions battling for supremacy. I was not sure if the fight was between two toffs with claims to the throne or because one faction had ruined the village cricket field by using it as car park for their armoured vehicles? Two great ECW games on show - the massive Marston Moor participation game and Warlord's 'Pike & Shott' game. What appeared to be over 1000 28mm Vikings were slugging it out on another table and for American Civil War fans the battle of Gettysburg (2nd day?) was equally impressive. A very nice scratch built harbour and fortifications caught my eye too that was made by Scarborough College Wargames Society. There was a great looking 'Black Hawk Down' type game too by gamers from the Rotherham area. Thanks to the organisers of War Torn - you put together a great show. I will add a few pics of the Witchfinder Game to the Grim Gallery and I am sure there will be pics of all the games mentioned above on the official War Torn site soon.
